My relationship with Dentistry started at very young age as a very frightened and uncooperative child. That background enables me to empathize with nervous patients and bring a relaxing atmosphere to my surgery.

As a training dentist I was very interested in the relationship between low income and poor oral health in the Portuguese population. I started working with the Portuguese Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) Mundo a Sorrir as an undergraduate volunteer and was involved in their Oral Health Education Activities until 2011.

In 2010 I published my final year research project in the peer reviewed Journal OMD.

Following graduation I took an internship in Orthodontic Practice under mentorship of Dr Paulo Retto.

Since 2012 I have worked a variety of clinical environments and have been involved in charity work, school oral health education and training of dental nurses within the practice on an impromptu basis.

I have experience in both the National Health Service and private dentistry.

In recent years my professional development has been patient centred, attending various communication courses and improving my skills in minimally invasive dentistry.

Experience with digital radiography, electronic clinical notes with different software programs, intra oral and extra oral photography with DSLR and intra oral cameras, rotary endodontics and Denar articulator.

 

But not all is Dentistry in my life. I also have a passion for motoring machines and I'm addicted to motorsport and avionics. I enjoy travelling and understanding different cultures and will continue to expand that in parallel with my personal and professional life as a registered volunteer for the United Nations.
